Macau

Macau didn't leave me with any memories to behold. While some people keep going back, it probably will be my last time there.

Had a good start to the day with breakfast at a local cafe near our hotel. i love the satay beef noodles and hotdog. i've always liked them to be saltier.

I was also fascinated by the vintage cups of yuan yang.

We happily ate and walked to the ferry terminal, which was 10 minutes away and got our tickets to macau only to realise that we didn't bring our passports along. Thankfully, the staff was kind enough to let us change the time at no extra cost.

The ferry ride took us an hour and i was horrified to see the amount of people at macau, despite being a weekday.

Senado square, which was mainly filled with tourists.

Like us, woops. We had to squeeze through throngs of people to get to the ruins of st paul's cathedral.

Pretty stunning from here.

But there wasn't anything much to see inside the crypt. i guess it's called ruins for obvious reasons. And the crowd when we got out...

Did our foodie loot shopping at this bakery shop which has many outlets in senado square itself. But the one which we went looked the biggest.

Clara and i bought a big bag of goodies and the staff was nice to bubble wrap the handles of the plastic bag so that it would be easier for us to carry. i thought that was pretty ingenious too!

And because everyone says that the pork burger is a must try in macau, we both got one for ourselves too.

The burger was disappointing and the pork was so bony i could barely eat any meat. However, the bubble milk tea was good because their pearls are so Q!

I was hoping to see someone bungy from macau tower to up my mood but my hopes were dashed, haha.

So we moved on to the casino and had to ask a few people for directions. Most of them were warm and helpful, except for this PR man who worked at metropole hotel. He actually shoo-ed us out and said he didn't know.

Plain annoying.

But a nice security guard pointed us to the shuttle bus queue and we arrived at city of dreams.

We didn't have the intention to gamble and only wanted to check out the place. It looks pretty much the same as the casinos in singapore and auckland. The walkway of shops felt like MBS.

Anyway, we easily found our way out to the venetian, which is a hotel with yet another casino.

The venetian, in the day and setting sun.

Took the free shuttle bus back to the ferry terminal and honestly, i was so afraid that we would miss our ferry again as the traffic was crawling.

Just when i thought that's the end to a seemingly unsatisfied day, the choppy waves jolted me to motion sickness. i was never prone to it until that day. The miserable feeling of wanting to puke for an entire hour was just, miserable.

With this, i bid goodbye to the island.
