"No matter how far we are from each other, there's no distance from you and I."
In a few days, the boyfriend and i would be 3.5 years old. Looking back, i can't help but to feel emotional and thankful that we managed to stand by each other. It wasn't easy, but we've come so far from...
We were both still in university and i was in my final semester, doing this crazy thing called FYP until ungodly hours and the boyfriend would stay up (despite a 5 hour time difference) to accompany me. Sometimes, he missed school the next day because he couldn't wake up. Oops!
The only free thing that we had to keep in touch was MSN and starhub web sms. But we texted most of the time and overseas SMS costs 30 cents per message! i remember easily hitting 100 bucks for my monthly bill and i was a poor student giving part-time tuition lol. He had to top up his card very often too.
(all this was before we both got a 3G plan...)
My first and most expensive overseas postage, just so the cookies won't turn mouldy. Rawr.
One of our earliest pics together when i was in NZ. What has ageing done to us? Hmm...
Our first neoprint together. Well actually, they call it photo sticker and NZ doesn't have all the fanciful japanese machines that we have in singapore so... Yup!
A random prize that he caught on his second try. Sheer luck! And it's still comfortably sitting on my bookshelf, hehehe.
That year, we both didn't celebrate each other's birthday physically but i got him a birthday cupcake and ate it on his behalf lol!
2011
We didn't see each other for more than a year but during this time, he sent me surprises :)
On the eve of his 21st birthday, the silly boy came over to singapore so that he could spend his birthday with me.
And the next day, we went to USS and had our first experience on the transformers ride.
Acting all touristy, haha! And the tourist actually sent me off at the airport for my korea trip and took the train all the way back to the west. Super touched lah.
He was forced to go back to malaysia so when i returned from my korea trip, i went over to KL to spend the last day of 2011 together and counted down to...
2012
The year where we managed to meet up more because he chose to do his internship in KL to bridge the physical distance between us. It involved a lot of sacrifices on his part and i'm really touched that he did it even when i didn't ask of him.
Long weekends and march holidays were precious to us. Because of that, for the first half of the year, we managed to meet every month (except for Feb). We also spent a month together during my December holidays.
And as always, he gets to spend his birthday with me while i spend my birthday with him on facetime =/
2013
With both of us working now, we don't always get to skype or whatsapp a lot but we still talk to each other everyday. One thing that has changed (for the better) is that we've become more accommodating. We used to quarrel quite a bit when we started out but we almost hardly bicker now.
Thank you for going the distance :)
