I got a call from one of my girls on friday after school and she sounded really serious. She told me to go up to the classroom as there was a fight. As expected, the two usual boys were "fighting" along the corridor and i scolded them.
Then i noticed that the classroom had people inside and it was dark. Afraid that something fishy was going on, i opened the door and was greeted by an overwhelming birthday song..
The board wrote:
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MS CHOW!
From: your beloved 2D
I was still in a state of shock and thought that it was a prank. With a look of uncertainty (the usual teacher's instinct), i told them that it wasn't my birthday and they said they knew, but wanted to celebrate it earlier for me as my actual birthday is during their exams.
It was probably my first time seeing the class so united in doing something out of their own initiative and i couldn't help but to tear when i watched their birthday greeting.
Over the weekend, some of my kids sent me sweet messages and the best gift for a teacher is to feel appreciated. No presents are needed. And i'll definitely miss them when the go to different classes.
I also finally got down to doing the cards for my graduating lit students, which took me more than a day. But i'm pretty satisfied with the outcome!
It's easier to do stuff when the majority of the class are girls. Even the lit boys are sentimental people. That's why i love my lit kids. They are so expressive!
And i got a treat to creamier, which is my fave ice cream waffles place by far. Totally love the new thai milk tea flavour and my all-time favourite summery strawberry (anything strawberry is yum!).
Then i had an advanced birthday celebration with my family at wo peng restaurant, which was recommended by Ping. My parents enjoyed the cantonese cuisine and i got to satisfy my crab craving! It's been an awesome weekend and i can't be any happier.
Thankful.
