FOOD THERAPY ♥
Been going through a rough patch at work and weekends seem shorter than ever. i'm thankful for supportive friends who are just a text away. Better yet, a meal away where i can rant and indulge in comfort food.
I always find it hard deciding on a place to eat because its always the same old names. So, i was very excited when the girls agreed to try out somewhere new.
Arteastiq
Last sunday, i had early dinner with Ping and Kat (whom i haven't seen for the longest time) at mandarin gallery.
Out of my naviety, i called up the place to make a reservation only to know that they don't accept reservations. When we reached, Kat got so excited and talked about having seen the place appear on some channel 8 drama.
Anyway, we spent quite a bomb but it was so worth it. Love the tea and mains especially.
I got their green tea latte which Kat agreed tasted like the one we had in korea. i miss it!
Ping's steak sandwich in the first pic. Kat and i shared the lemon butter salmon and duck sandwich because we both couldn't decide which one to get. Everything was good! The salmon fish was so tender.
Adam's apple dessert with two choices of premium gelato ice cream. i personally don't find their desserts very fantastic (maybe because i'm a very dessert person who has high expectations). The damages per pax was about 35 bucks, hoho.
Au Chocolat
Two days back, i met up with Delia after work for another one of our bitching sessions. And chocolate is supposed to be happy food, isn't it?
So we dined at MBS where we thought would be quieter. BUT WE WERE SO WRONG.
We had to shout at each other to be heard. Even though the staff and service were above expectations, i really didn't want to shout anymore after a week of shouting in class. To interject, i think that's the problem with singapore. Every nook and cranny has people and with people, high decibels.
Anyway, i was stuck between getting the frozen hot chocolate and the strawberry smoothie. And this friendly big guy suggested taking the smoothie since Delia wanted the chocolate, because i could taste from her drink. So i did!
Quite glad i didn't take the chocolate in the end because it was humongous. And the whipped cream looked free-flow. Delia went jaw-dropped when her drink was served. HAHAHA.
The food portion was pretty big too. i ordered the ultimate benedict without expecting it to turn out like this...
Had to remove all the streaked bacon before i cut my way into the pancakes (which i couldn't finish). i wish Sean was here to share my food. i always end up feeling so wasteful =x
Delia got the duck confit which was equally filling. i regretted not sharing the pacific crab cake with her. Never mind, next time!
I love au chocolat's praline cake by the way. i dun really fancy chocolate cake (and my friends think it weird) but this is one exception. Unfortunately, we were too full to have any cakes and we wanted to drink.
Ironically, we ended up snacking away on wedges at harry's esplanade.
Delia recommended this peachy drink which was pretty strong. Should have stuck to my lychee martini. i'm not very adventurous when it comes to drinks.
Looking forward to our bangkok trip :)
