KITE FLYING!

With Nic kor and Lyn at marina barrage on sunday taught me a valuable lesson.

We were greeted by a happy sight when we reached. The sky was literally littered with colourful kites...

It was really tough getting our kite to even take off and when it did, we were all jumping with excitement. The trick was to wait for the wind to carry it and release the string at the right time.

Having zero knowledge about flying kites, i went with my instinct on when to let go and pull back the string. There were times when i felt the strings of other kites cutting into mine and i would try to tug it back desperately. When our kite was freed, i allowed it to fly freely again.

However, the journey of a kite doesn't always end happily. We saw many pretty kites floating on the water or trapped elsewhere. Ours too, broke away from our string. But we weren't sad because like what Nic kor said, at least we managed to get it to fly.

I wonder how many times we grieve over someone or something that we have lost. Sometimes we just have to let it go. Because when we hold on too tightly, it snaps and ultimately, we still have to let it go.

At least, things took off, leaving us now with happy memories to keep. And this day, i will remember.

While i'll never get to see that missing kite again, i can proudly say, i know what kite flying feels like!
