After cleaning Elfie's cage, I decided to shift around some stuff to maximise space for him to burrow and run about.
And this is how it currently looks like! i decided to move the wheel to where i can't see it since he hasn't been actively jogging.
The best purchase I got is definitely the sleeping house (he's always inside) from pets kampong which cost about 5 bucks. It can be hooked onto the cage, which creates space and he looks super cute whenever he climbs up the ladder. He is usually too lazy to climb down and prefers to drop down instead.
I reconfigured his playground (the one with the slide) as well so that he's able to get in and out from both sides. Read online that hamsters love tunnels and so far, Elfie has been using that path to get to his food and bathing house. Just now, he even climbed up to the second floor and went down by the slide. Smartie boy! He has also gone underneath the slide to get to the cooling house.
Only problem is that he is not jogging on the wheel because of all these "distractions", as compared to the first day when he had nothing in the barren cage to entertain him. But he loves the jogging ball.
He seldom climbs up to the second level which only has a tube of toilet roll in the small compartment. Am thinking of getting compatible cage parts as add-ons.
Elfie has been so well-behaved and I haven't seen him biting the cage bars, except for once. You adorable thing!
