Halloween Horror Nights 2
It was a last minute decision to hit USS on friday and all tickets were sold out. Lucky us managed to get it, considering we'd only gotten the day before.Since entry was at 8 pm, i met up with Delia for early dinner at Bishan's Ambush before taking the circle line down.
Couldn't resist ordering their fish and chips after seeing the person next to us nom-ing it happily. i like how its crunchy on the outside, yet tender on the inside. The fries were good too. i'm not a fan of western food but Ambush is always an exception!
Reached Vivo way before time and was greeted by a long queue of people lining up for the monorail. And the signboard said: 30 mins waiting time.
Nothing's scarier than seeing so many people waiting to be scared.
But we were still on a high. i purposely carried a backpack and travelled light that night, without my DSLR. Can't imagine walking around for 5 hours with so much stuff on me.
Anyway, as expected, the queues inside USS were super scary. Thank god we had express passes. Our additional 40 bucks were put to extremely good use.
First Stop: Dungeon of Damnation
The most recommended haunted house. With the express ticket, we managed to cut through snakes of people. Their queue extended all the way until the entrance.
In 15 minutes, we managed to get in and i was nervous because i didn't know what to expect. Haunted houses are scarier than roller coasters, to me. So Delia led the way and i trailed behind her.
The 'ghosts' were really scary because they were more daring in coming out and scaring you in-your-face. Most of them appeared from Delia's side and she ended up screaming more than me. Haha. There was this annoying 'ghost' who used the flap to hit my head and i screamed out of shock. There was another who came down from the top when i stared upwards. Scaringly cool!
Second Stop: Transformers The Ride
Nobody misses transformers when you are at USS. And because Delia had not gone for the ride before, i told her that we should make use of our express passes and go for it.
Almost nearing, with our 3D spects on! Although it was my second experience, transformers was still cool. Delia was impressed, it being her first time and i can totally understand why! Bumblebee and Optimus Prime are my biases, hehe.
Third Stop: Battlestar Galatica
Again, the girl who hadn't been on it was squealing in excitement. i was excited as well because i like the adrenaline rush, especially for the human track. We love roller coasters!
Fourth Stop: Insanitarium
The second haunted house.
With a longer, more gory route. i was impressed by the visuals. Even the smell was gross. And i still can't get the toilet image out of my head.
Blood littered floor, operating beds and flashing light. i felt like i was walking through Mercy Hospital in Left for Dead 2. Real enough.
My shocking moment was when this mental person appeared out of nowhere from some water tank and drenched half of my body. The water was so stinky!
The funny thing was when we exited Insanitarium, it still felt very real because there were mental patients walking around and they were so in-character!
This one came running up to us.
There were friendly nurses selling 'blood' drip for 18 bucks. Madness i know. Its like, what will you do with the empty bag after you finish drinking? Hang it in your house as a deocration? Haha, morbid!
Fifth Stop: Bizzare Bazzare
The main walkways of Ancient Egypt, where you are welcomed by the scene of a prisoner tormented by the high priest.
The crowd engagement wasn't as strong here, compared to House of Dolls and Total Lockdown, partly because the walkway was too narrow. There were so many people pushing in both directions.
We stopped by for the mummy's ride and was horrified when the staff told us that its a 30 minutes wait for express ticket holders. Imagine the normal queue.
Sixth Stop: Death Alley
The last haunted house which wasn't so scary because it was out in the open and the route was pretty short. What was more scary was the old chinese music playing in the background.
What was memorable about this place was the little girl in ponytails carrying her doll. Delia screamed when she came up to her and it was memorable like that. Haha, evil me! i thought the girl did great for her age. The old granny was really good too. Read online that she actually applied together with her husband and son to be the 'ghost' cast. So cool!
Last Stop: House of Dolls
Before this, we actually went for the canopy flyer (which does not have an express queue) but the queue was alright when we reached. The night view from the back seat was pretty nice. It felt more like a scenic ride haha.
We checked back on the jurassic rapids for like 6 times before we gave up and retired for the night. Disappointed.
So, we decided to cheer ourselves up with ben and jerry's ice cream: strawberry cheesecake and mango sorbet.
Passed by the puppet show and took a commemorative photo (10 bucks) for keepsake and made our way out of USS.
Bye, dolls and puppets.
We made it, after 5 hours of walking and waiting!
Both of us were complaining about our sore calfs and muscles. It felt worse than my usual jogging. Still, an awesome experience thanks to our express passes. Next year, its a must, with must-have express tickets.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
