So this is how it looks like...
There are many categories to browse through or you can key in a specific item in the search box. If you see something that you like, you can either like it on the main page or tap it to view more details. And if you're keen to buy, you can PM the seller (similar to whatsapp). You can also view the seller's profile and their feedback as a buyer and seller. The activity tab is basically a news feed.
Right. So what got me started on this app? i'm basically a hoarder who shops a wee bit too much and each time i spring clean my wardrobe, i clear out big bags of unwanted stuff. Then i either throw them away or donate them. Why don't i sell them? Because i'm simply too lazy to.
Then i joined carousell last year end, around this time, because i had more time in my hands during the school holidays. But i was still too lazy to take pictures of my items. There's an unspoken skill in arranging them in a particular way, having the right backdrop and lighting, and choosing the right filter.
TOO MUCH WORK.
Within a year, carousell became very popular and i decided to try it to see what the hype was all about. i must admit, listing items was rather addictive and for me, the fun part was coming up with an item name and price. My objective wasn't for profits but for the experience. In fact, Kat commented that i'm selling them too cheaply. Haha.
For the first day, my phone was busy as people chatted with me. The thrill of having a potential buyer was at first, enticing. Then i gradually became tired, having to reply and answer their queries. Some were picky and i even had a request to try on the item before buying. Like what? Even pasar malam don't let you try, please. i had to explain that it works the same way as online blog shops, plus, i had already listed the measurements and size.
Just today, someone asked if i can sell the item at 15 bucks (i priced it at 20) because town area is too far for her to meet up. Come on, i don't think your fare costs 5 bucks. If the venue is too far for you, at least ask to negotiate a more convenient place, not slash prices. If this applies, NTU should have charged me less for my school fees then, since i take around 3 hours to get there and back.
So literally, i did. After some back and forth chats, i sold two items within a day and was happy. My first sales!
Then i arranged to meet up with the buyers. The first one was fuss-free. The second one however, forgot that she was supposed to meet me and i waited for about 20 minutes, trying to contact her. Just as i was leaving, she called me back to say that she was working and couldn't meet me. After which, she asked if i could go up to her store to pass to her. Wait a minute, did this just become a door delivery service? i was already annoyed that she couldn't meet my time and my lunch appointment was delayed as a result. i even made the effort to be early for the meetup.
Anyway, from my carouselling experience, i concluded that i can't be a businesswoman or an online seller, unless someone does the customer service for me. My patience is limited. Hahaha. It's still best for me to stick as a buyer, rather than a seller.
